YouTubers to watch: art edition

Updated: Aug 15, 2021

art studio vlogs are my jam

Since starting my digital illustration journey last October, I have discovered the simple joy that are studio vlogs. Watching other artists create is so soothing and therapeutic. Watching art videos is something I love to have on whether I want someone to keep me company as I illustrate, or just something to keep on as background noise.

Not just for the artistically inclined.

If you've ever been curious about making a living with art, these YouTubers are a great window into what a modern Millennial, full-time, self-employed artist's life looks like. A girl can dream.

After starting my art account @fruitspoon.art last year, and immersing myself in the community of digital illustrators, I feel confident in telling you that these are the art YouTubers you should know about today.

Been obsessed with her since the beginning. Have so much praise for Leigh. From her colour palette, video editing style, and eclectic personality, there's nothing I don't like about her as a YouTuber and a human being. She is a delight on camera.

The smallest YouTuber on this list, but definitely worth including IMO. @smoleart's studio vlogs are lowkey and feel like you're hanging out with a friend. No bells and whistles here, just good ol' fashion procreate time-lapses and week-in-the-life style vlogs.

Based in Australia, Sha'an has the most positive energy I've ever experienced through a YouTube video. She doesn't take art too seriously, I love her colour palette. Bonus* I'm a sucker for an Australian accent.

Also known as Pyper Bleu and previously known as Cat Creature, Annabelle is an OG in the art YouTuber space. She's an artist who recently moved to New York City, has many cats, and I would love to be her friend in real life.

The newest YouTuber on this list, but a long time artist I've followed on Instagram. Also known as @knivesmeow, Radhia is based in NYC and finding her way as a new full-time artist. Get a glass of water and a snack, because her videos are few and far between, but when they drop... be prepared to set aside an hour to watch.

Whether you're looking to get some creative juices flowing, or just want to see what the art community is like on YouTube, these channels are sure to satisfy your inner colour wheel desires you didn't even know you had.
